Figure EUR-gre-018. One of the Seven Against Thebes (Adrastos?) armed with a sword in a fighting posture, preparing to strike a serpent strangulating the infant Opheltes (posthumously renamed Archemoros) and distraught nursemaid Hypsipyle raising her hands in terror. Alternative (less likely) interpretation: infant Heracles (Hercules) wrestling with serpents sent by the goddess Hera (Juno), in the presence of his formal father Amphitryon holding a short sword and his mother, Alcmene in distraught.
